In addition to supporting the other marginalized communities, I was active in the Black Lives Matter movement which strived to address and end systemic racism and police brutality against black people, advocating for racial justice and an end to violence targeted at the black community. A common chant during these demonstrations was "Say Their Names" to highlight the misjustice against individuals like De'Von Bailey, George Floyd, Elijah McClain, Paul Childs, and Breonna Taylor. While today's focus is now on other issues related to misjustice, especially our undocumented neighbors, we must not forget our black members of society. I credit my very special church, Vista Grande United Church of Christ, for inspiring me to GET INVOLVED in advocating for those overlooked in our communities.
